Remembering their lives -

Felipe was born on April 10, 1933, in Converse, Texas.

His death certificate states that he was a white male who never married and did odd jobs. He was the son of Jose Campa and Georgina Le Penna. His father was the informant. Georgina was first married to a man with the last name Rodrigez.

Some information from this point on is confusing. In the 1940 census, the family lived in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas, USA, and Georgina was listed as a lodger.

In the 1950 census, the family is still in San Antonio, but Georgina is now listed as Jose's wife, and Robert is listed as a stepson. So, is she his mother? This would have been the last census he was in.

The only other information I could find came from the American Battle Monuments Commission.

The following is found on their website :

“Private Campa was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Notes:

Private Campa was a member of the 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on May 5, 1953. Laid to rest on July 13, 1953, in  Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery
